As one of two sales associates at Maine-ly Drizzle, a luxury foods shop for imported oils, vinegars, foods, and cookware, I helped to double sales revenue over the course of the summer.
Located in downtown Kennebunkport, ME, the location draws hundreds of visitors each day during the peak of tourist season from June through August.
My responsibilities at this small husband-and-wife shop primarily consisted of face-to-face interactions with customers, introducing them to the products offered in the store, finding uses for the products that will suit their needs and allow them to innovate in a way that may ensure recurring purchases, and leaving them with a strong level of comfort with the shop and the community as a whole.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been pushed so hard to think on my feet and find a balance between optimal customer service and optimal sales tactics than in this position. I was forced to find creative, personalized solutions for hundreds of customers a day, and feel that this will always be one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences I’ve ever had.
